Business South Carolina known for improving fuel consumption
Michelin North America, Inc., headquartered in Greenville, SC, was among 34 companies honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at a ceremony held this week during the annual conference of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Philadelphia. The SmartWay Excellence Award 2007 were winners of the driving environment in terms of reducing fuel consumption and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by large trucks.
Michelin is a part of the EPA’s ® SmartWay Transportation Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the EPO and the freight industry to improve energy efficiency net reduction of greenhouse gases and air pollution .
Shipper partners Michelin North America, Inc. is a high-profile for holders of public projects SmartWay. More than a quarter of Michelin cargo Carrier’s SmartWay are now partners, mainly because of Michelin promotion program. Michelin also markets partnership with clients in the printed ads on its website and in a multitude of other companies literature. The company will continue to assist the possibilities of their fleets to improve environmental performance through the use of more fuel and tires.
EPA SmartWay launched in 2004 to cope with environmental challenges and economic growth in the cargo industry. The program, EPA is currently working with over 600 companies to improve their bottom line and environment, technical assistance, tools for evaluating opportunities to reduce fuel consumption and emissions and assist in locating funding for the purchase of fuel Win equipment and technology.
Based on three years to upgrade their commitments regarding Auxiliary Power Units trucks, tires, saving energy, improving aerodynamics footnotes, and other improvements, SmartWay partners are economies 600 million litres of diesel fuel - a cost-benefit analysis of nearly 2 billion dollars - and the elimination of nearly seven million tonnes carbon dioxide emissions, global warming.
